📚 Reading Books

Reading books and reading records should be brought to school every day.

We encourage children to read at home regularly to help build:

  • fluency,
  • confidence,
  • and a love of reading.

Please sign your child’s reading record when you have read together at home.

💧 Water Bottles

Children should bring a named water bottle to school each day containing water only.

Water bottles will be kept in the classroom and can be refilled throughout the day if needed.

👕 Uniform Reminders

Please ensure all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Children should wear:

  • full school uniform,
  • black school shoes,
  • and appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather.

On PE days, children should wear their school PE kit.

⏰ Start and End Times

Classroom doors open at 8:30am and learning begins promptly each morning.

The school day finishes at 3:00pm.

Please ensure children arrive on time each day so they are ready to begin learning with the class.

🏡 Reading at Home

In Year 1, we do not send formal homework home as we recognise the importance of protecting children’s wellbeing and reducing unnecessary cognitive load after a busy school day.

Instead, we ask that children read with an adult every day at home. Sharing stories and reading together helps to:

  • build confidence and fluency,
  • develop language and comprehension skills,
  • strengthen relationships,
  • and foster a lifelong love of reading.

Even just 5–10 minutes each day can make a huge difference to your child’s progress and enjoyment of reading.

Our PE day is each Thursday. Children should wear navy tracksuit bottoms, our blue polo PE T-shirt, and a navy zipped jacket, along with appropriate trainers. Wearing the correct PE kit is essential for enabling movement during a variety of physical activities. Please contact the school office if you require assistance in sourcing the correct PE kit.
