PE & Sport Funding
What is the Sports Premium?
The Sports Premium is a government initiative created to encourage children to lead active, healthy lives. It supports primary schools in enhancing the quality of their PE, physical activity, and sport provision, ensuring that all pupils experience the wide-ranging benefits of regular movement and exercise.
This funding is jointly provided by the Department for Education, the Department of Health, and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. The money is allocated directly to primary school Headteachers, giving schools the means to strengthen their provision of PE and sport for every child.
The Sports Premium must be used specifically to develop and improve PE and sporting opportunities within school.

How Our Lady and St Brendan’s Will Use the Sports Premium
The aim of the funding is to ensure that every child benefits—regardless of ability—by having access to high-quality PE and sporting opportunities. It also supports the development of competitive opportunities for more able pupils, professional development for staff, and the purchase of new equipment to improve teaching and learning in PE.
